What Should You Know About National Aptitude Test in Architecture(NATA)?
What is NATA?
Short for National Aptitude Test in Architecture, NATA evaluates the candidate’s aptitude for Architecture - a specific field of study. This is the test which assesses not only drawing but observation skills as well. Other than these skills, the test also judges aesthetic sensitivity, ability to think critically and sense of proportion that have been attained over a long period of time and are related to architecture.
Held in 135 cities across the country and 1 overseas (Dubai, )NATA is a national level common aptitude test in architecture which is conducted by the Council of Architecture. Regarded as a single window exam, NATA is used for admission purpose to First Year to Five Year BArch Degree Course at every recognized institution all across India.
The scores applicants are likely to achieve in NATA entrance test are used for seeking admissions to different Government, Govt Aided and unaided schools/colleges of architecture. Moreover, these scores are also used for providing a common measure for making a brief comparison of the applicants’ qualifications and for admission other than their performance in 10+2 or equivalent exam.
NATA will be conducted in the last week of April by the Council of Architecture or COA. The test is segregated into two parts: Part A (Maths and General Aptitude - Online) and Part B (Drawing - Offline). What is the eligibility criteria for NATA ?
Well, there are some crucial parameters that you, as a candidate, must fulfill before applying for the test. They are listed below:
- 10+2 graduates or appearing with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
- 10+3 diploma holders in any stream or appearing recognized by the State or Central Government with Mathematics as one of the main subjects.
- There is no minimum age limit to appear in NATA if the applicant fulfills the eligibility criteria to appear in the exam.
- It is important for every candidate to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry and maths taken together.
Note - Applications forms for NATA can be availed online and are available from January. The admit card will be released in April and the exam will take place in the last week of April. The results will be announced online in June .
NATA Mock Test:
Prior to the actual exam taking place, the authorities will provide NATA 2019 mock test to the applicants. This test is nothing but a mere replica of the actual examination. Taking the test will allow the candidates to familiarize themselves with the purpose of the online exam, type of questions being asked and a lot more.
NATA Result:
The Council of Architecture (COA), to be announced in online mode, will be carrying overall passing cutoff. In addition, it will carry minimum marks segregated subject wise required for qualification.
If you want to check your results, you will have to log-in to your portal using your application number as well as the date of birth. Know that the result will be downloaded in the form of NATA scorecard. This scorecard consists of crucial details, including:
- Paper-wise Marks (obtained by the candidate),
- Total Marks and
- Qualifying Status.
Other than the above, it will carry details like name, gender, DOB, application and roll number as well as category.
